A New Way to Sort and Search For Hidden Treasures!
As a Listener, you are given the opportunity to select from a number of genres and sub-genres, and may further sort by using various criteria, such as standard alphabetical listings (A to Z, or, Z to A) that allow you to sort by artist/band name or song title.
It doesn’t stop there though. You can also sort by a musician’s influences (popular musicians who have had an impact on the way a band plays). This makes it easier to find music that will likely appeal to your tastes!
There are also 2 search engines available on SonicAwareness. The first, and most obvious search engine is the Main Search Engine, which is located on the lower left-hand part of your screen. This search engine is available on every single page of the site. It scans all genres and music listings, and there are three search fields. The fields are Band Name, Influences, and Song Title. The Main Search Engine is incredibly simple to use, and helps listeners find music they want quickly and easily.
The second search engine is Genre Specific. When a Listener selects a genre from the Music Library, the listener may then "search within" the chosen genre. This search may involve Band Name, Song Title, Influence, or Sub-Genre. A Sub-Genre being a specific style of music within a larger genre category. An example of a Sub-Genre is "Progressive Rock", which would be included under the main genre of "Rock". This search feature enables listeners to distinguish stylistic differences between bands within a single genre!
This sorting capability encourages listeners to listen to bands they’re unfamiliar with. It also prevents musicians from becoming just another name in a long list. Musicians on SonicAwareness will never get lost in a crowd because we know that a musicians name is not enough!
