Here's the Solution You Need
If you are having trouble downloading music off of SonicAwareness it is likely due to a number of factors. However, we have noticed that no matter what your browser settings are or which operating system you are using, the easiest way to fix this problem is to make a tiny adjustment to your media player.
A media player is what you use to play music, and the most common media players are Windows Media, Real Player, and Music Match Jukebox. Recently, many listeners have experienced problems with the latest editions of Windows Media and Real Player. The best way to avoid problems with these players is to make sure they are NOT the default player on your computer for Mp3s. Below are instructions on how to remove the default setting on these players...
Windows Media
- Open Windows Media Player, click on Tools and then click on Options.
- A new window will pop up and will feature a bunch of tabs up top. Click on the tab that says File Types.
- In the File Types area you'll see a window that lists all kinds of files with some files featuring checkmarks beside them. Chances are, "MP3 Audiofile" has a checkmark next to it. If you remove the check mark, click on APPLY and then OK that should take care of the problem. From now on you will be able to save your Mp3s directly to your computer and play them whenever you please and with whichever media player your wish to use.
Real Player
- Open Real Player, click on Tools and then click on Preferences.
- A new window will pop up and will feature a bunch of tabs on the left side of the window. Click on the tab that says Media Types. If you don't see Media Types right away, expand the tab that says Content
- After clicking on Media Types you'll see a window that lists all kinds of files with some files featuring checkmarks beside them. Chances are, "MP3" has a checkmark next to it. If you remove the check mark, click on Ok that should take care of the problem. From now on you will be able to save your Mp3s directly to your computer and play them whenever you please and with whichever media player your wish to use.
***The above methods should work for most people. If you are still experiencing difficulties you may have to remove the player's default properties through your computer's control panel and MultMedia section.
